Electroglobal SA implemented this project alongside KÉSZ Romania for an end beneficiary that manufactures battery-powered and electric equipment.
The electric panels installed by Electroglobal SA represent the first Arc Guard System™ TVOC-2 solution implemented in Romania.
The Arc Guard™ TVOC-2 system from @ABB quickly detects an electric arc and triggers the circuit breaker. Using light as the main detection condition, the Arc Guard System™ activates instantly. Thanks to this essential functional advantage, it surpasses all other protection methods and delays, which is crucial when reaction times need to be measured in milliseconds.
The #ArcGuard system consists of an Arc Monitor and an optical sensor used for arc detection. For specific applications, an additional current detection unit can be added to prevent accidental triggering caused by strong light sources, such as sunlight.
The system’s core function operates in three phases:
- Detection: Light passes through an optical sensor.
- Recognition: The Arc Monitor determines the intensity of the light.
- Action: The triggering contact is closed.
The system implemented by ELECTROGLOBAL was installed in two electric panels:
Electric Panel – TDRI1
- An L-shaped electric panel with side lengths of 7 and 8 meters
- Rated current: 2500A
- Three separate power supplies via couplings
- The TVOC system consists of:
- A central unit + extension for linking 15 optical sensors responsible for detecting light generated by electric arcs
- Three current monitoring units to prevent accidental disconnections due to light signals
Electric Panel – TDRI2
- An electric panel with a length of 9 meters
- Rated current: 3200A
- Two separate power supplies via coupling
- The TVOC system consists of:
- A central unit for linking 10 optical sensors responsible for detecting light generated by electric arcs
- Two current monitoring units to prevent accidental disconnections due to light signals, one for each power supply
